Spectroscopy, IR window. Barium Fluoride is commonly used in spectroscopic components. It is transparent from the ultraviolet to the infrared, which favors to make optical components like lenses. It is also used as a viewport window for thermography and scintillator material for detection of X rays and gamma rays.
